Sucre pulls a gun on Michael, C-Note and T-Bag and demands all the money and he takes the knapsack and runs off. The three left are furious, but there is nothing that they can do. C-Note and Michael go to the kitchen and Michael takes a cable cord to tie up T-Bag so that the police can find him, but he is too late. When he gets back to the garage, T-Bag is already gone. But he hasn?t gone very far. When Michael leaves with the policewoman?s radio, T-Bag is still outside the house, looking through a window.
Sara is shocked to see all the morphine in her flat when someone approaches her. He has been sent from ?The Company? to eliminate her and make it look like a suicide. But Sara isn?t going without a fight; she injures herself and starts tearing up her flat, so that it looks like there was a struggle. She manages to spray his eyes with bug spray, and gets away while he is trying to regain his sight.
Michael is running through the forest and finds Sucre. After an anxious moment, it is revealed that it was all set up by Michael and Sucre so that they could get the money. But their joy is short lived as they find out that T-Bag handed them the bag full of magazines, and kept the 5 million for himself. While the others were digging, T-Bag had been filling an identical backpack with magazines, but no one had noticed. He then handed over that backpack to Sucre and kept the other for himself.
In Kingman, Arizona, LJ Burrows is released from custody and the feds are waiting for his father to show up. LJ realizes that something is up, and declines a ride. Little do they know, Lincoln is watching from a distance, waiting for an opportunity to get to LJ.
Michael and Sucre are fuming and Michael is trying to think of a new plan to get the money. They decide to just go on to Panama with the 5 grand they pocketed. Michael still has the radio and the police have already found out that they had been at the house and are now looking for them in that area.
Mahone has been called back to Chicago from Utah by Internal Affairs for questioning over the death of Tweener and Abruzzi.
Bellick and Geary are stuck in Wyoming where Bellick is calling his mother to get her to pick them up. However, he changes his mind when he finds out where the escapees were on the television and tells her to send him money instead.
A frantic Sara calls Bruce, whom her father worked with for years to tell him that there are people after her. He makes her give him her location and says that he will send people to pick her up.
Lincoln sells golf clubs that he found in the car for 80 dollars, and gets back to where LJ is sitting alone.
Michael and Sucre need to get away immediately and their only choice is to cross the river. They try to walk across a log but Sucre loses his balance and falls into the water and his foot is trapped. Michael tries to free his foot but to no avail. Michael is at a loss of what to do next.
Sara waits out of sight for the car, and a woman of similar build and hair walks past her and starts using the payphone with her back to the road. A black car stops briefly, and the woman is shot by them and the car speeds away. Sara is shocked but runs to help the woman who dies. She realizes that the bullets were meant for her.
Michael is still trying to get Sucre out but his plan doesn?t work. He is overjoyed when he hears alarms to signal that the locks are about to be opened. The water level will rise and everything will float off and free Sucre. But do they have that time? The police have found the backpack and are close but Michael tries to be optimistic.
Sullins doesn?t seem to think much of Mahone as he continues to interrogate him. He knows that Mahone was ordered to kill the men and proves it to him.
Sara is now in hiding and cannot believe what just happened. She has taken the wallet of the dead woman, Kelli Foster and was putting it in her handbag when she finds the birds that Michael sent her. Meanwhile, Kellerman met up with Kim and is trying to convince him that the birds mean something, and reminds him that they can?t keep going around killing civilians. Kim is skeptical of Kellerman?s plan, but Kellerman assures him that using the right ?bait?, which in this case is Sara, will guarantee them Scofield.
LJ waits at the bus stop not knowing that Kellerman?s men and his father are both watching him. The former are getting anxious that Lincoln hasn?t shown up yet, and Kellerman tells them that they need to do something to draw him out. A guy who has been asking for money approaches LJ, and when LJ can?t give him any, he starts a fight.
Michael and Sucre are still stuck in the river with the water level still rising, and Sucre has lost hope of getting to Maricruz. Michael extends an invitations to Sucre and tells him that he can go to Panama with him and Lincoln. Sucre tells Michael to go and leave him, but Michael stays true to his friend and won?t listen, but when Sucre keeps talking, Michael seems uneasy.
Sara is trying to understand what Michael is telling her on the birds when Bruce calls. After telling him what happened and wondering aloud how did they know where she was, Sara realized that Bruce was on their side and hangs up on him and throws away her battery. She catches sight of the keypad on her phone and realizes that it is the key to the code. The numbers mean one of the corresponding letters on that button.
The guy who started the fight with LJ was arrested at the hospital where they were taken to get treated, and the FBI heard him say that he was paid 50 dollars by someone to do it. They then realize that it was all set up by Lincoln, and that he is in the building. Sure enough, Lincoln finds LJ in the hospital and they have a short emotional reunion and then climb out of the window to the car and drive off. The FBI are too late.
Bellick and Geary arrives to the house where Westmoreland?s money had been hidden and pretend that they are part of the investigation team. They find out from the owners that it was T-Bag who made off with the money alone.
Sara has figured out half of the code, but it still doesn?t make sense. Kellerman also has one of the birds and is trying to do the same thing.
Sucre has started to accept that he may not get out of this alive, but Michael will hear none of it. They can hear the dogs nearby, and the boys are getting desperate. The water level is so high that Michael has to hold up Sucre?s head to keep him from drowning. Michael tells Sucre to hold his breath and when Sucre thinks all is lost, Michael manages to free him by using rope, a tree and Sucre?s bike. But Michael can?t find Sucre and starts getting worried when Sucre jumps out of the river and they run off just in time.
Sara realizes that the first bird with the dots indicate which letter on the button to use. Unfortunately for Sara and Michael, Kellerman cracks the code of one of the birds just as Sara does: ?Rendezvous?.
While Michael is buying a car, Sucre calls his cousin and finds out that Maricruz said no to Hector. Michael understands and buys him a car and tells him to go find her. He also gives Sucre a slip of paper and tells him that it?s just in case he runs into trouble down the road. There?s an awkward moment as Sucre remembers the river, he thanks Michael for not leaving him behind, and gives him a hug.
Bellick and Geary wonder where T-Bag is going, and we find out that T-Bag and his new truck do have a destination, Susan Hollander?s house.
LJ is incredulous at the fact that he is now sitting in a car next to his father but he?s happy about it.
Sara now has ?rendezvous. Sundown/Hot.? But she feels that it is incomplete, and she remembers that there was one more bird that she left behind in her flat. Kellerman has the same thoughts and goes to her flat where he finds it.
Sullins won?t give up on Mahone and things get a little heated between them when Sullins reads out aloud about Mahone?s history and we find out a little bit about Alexander Mahone?s background. It?s not that different from Michael?s and Lincoln?s. Mahone had a disappearing mother, and his abusive father got custody of him. Not a lot of options in front of him, young Mahone joins the military as soon as possible. Mysteriously, Mahone gets a big promotion too quickly and Sullins wants to know why. Sullins gets a call from high up and has to back off. He walks out of Mahone?s office without another word.
The viewers get a shock when Mahone walks out of the FBI building and straight into Kellerman?s car. It?s a small world after all it seems. We also find out that it was Kellerman who ordered Sullins out and the whole investigation was just a fa?ade. Mahone doesn?t seem to be too pleased to be in Kellerman?s company and Kellerman doesn?t treat Mahone with much respect and tells him to stop asking questions and that they only hired him for one thing.
